In 2011, then Ohio Governor John Kasich approved video lottery terminals at Ohio racetracks.
In December of the following year, Miami Valley Gaming and Racing, a joint venture of Churchill Downs, Inc. and Delaware North Companies Gaming and Entertainment, completed the purchase of the harness racing licenses and certain assets held by Ohio-based Lebanon Trotting Club, Inc. and Miami Valley Trotting, Inc. paving the way for a planned transfer to a new 120-acre site in I-75 (on Ohio 63 and Union Road in Turtlecreek Township).
The new 186,000-square-foot gaming facility will feature 1,600 to 2,500 video lottery terminals.
Miami Valley Gaming and Racing will invest about $215 million in the project, including a $50 million license fee.
